How to get to Salzburg

By train: Salzburg is on the train line between Munich and Vienna. There is at least one train per hour in either direction (see ÖBB and DB).

By car: If you are travelling by car, please remember that in order to use the motorway in Austria, you need to pay a toll charge. You can buy the badge at petrol stations along the motorway south of Munich.

By plane: Salzburg has its own airport; moreover, the airports in Munich and Vienna are within easy reach. Trains from Vienna Airport take about 3 hours (see ÖBB); trains from Munich Airport take about the same time (see DB). It is much more convenient to fly to Salzburg directly rather than getting on a train in Munich or Vienna, even if this may mean changing flights in Frankfurt, Munich or Vienna. Salzburg Airport is very close to town; bus line 2 takes you to the main station; no 10 to the town centre (see airport information).

Public transport in Salzburg

Salzburg has an extensive public transport bus system. Tickets are available at the ‘Trafik’ (news agents) all over town (there is one in the departure hall at the airport and one in the main station), or at machines at selected bus stops. (Paying the bus driver directly is not possible at the moment.) You can choose between single tickets and 24-h tickets, which need to be time-stamped on the bus. For details on the Salzburg bus system, see here.

How to get to the venue

The conference takes place at Unipark Nonntal, Erzabt-Klotz-Str 1. This is close to bus stops Justizgebäude, where bus lines 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 25 stop. It is also within very easy walking distance of the old town (about 10 minutes to the cathedral). Busses 3, 5, 6 and 25 will take you directly from the main station to bus stop Justizgebäude.

The venue

Our conference takes place in rooms 1.003, 1.006/1.007 and 1.009 on the first floor. Coffee breaks will be on this floor as well. There are easy-access facilities on floor 1; further facilities can be found on floor -2.

The lecture rooms are equipped with PCs, these all have audio systems, the usual Office programmes and VLC Media Player. Eduroam is available in the building.
